 Berklee City Music Mock Audition

Berklee College of Music has already set dates for this winter’s audition and interview tour. High school seniors who are applying for admittance to Berklee College of Music (fall 2012) and for the City Music Summer Scholarship (CMSS) must complete two separate applications: an Admissions Application & a 5‐Week Summer Program Application. All other CMSS applicants will be required to complete one online 5‐Week Summer Program application.

Please be advised that Berklee is no longer accepting walkins for auditions and students who are not scheduled to audition will not be considered.

Please consult the Berklee Audition & Interview (A&I) schedule to find out when an A&I team will be visiting your city or region:

The City Music office requests the names of all your candidates immediately, as deadlines are drawing near. Whether students are applying for full‐time college entry (fall 2012) and/or the City Music Summer Scholarship, it is imperative that everyone apply early to secure priority audition scheduling.

Please email me <kbarnes@berklee.edu> information for all candidates:

Student name, current grade in high school, date of birth, age, instrument, enrollment status (i.e. fulltime applicant or CMSS only)

Please see the checklist below for eligibility criteria for the City Music Summer Scholarship (CMSS) followed by important application details:

  • APPLICANTS MUST be 15 years old by June 1, 2012 – no applicant will be considered if he/she does not meet this requirement.
  • APPLICANTS MUST be current high school students or must have graduated in spring 2012 (immediately preceding the summer term) to be eligible for CMSS – current college students are not eligible for CMSS.
  • APPLICANTS MUST be enrolled and participate at the network site.
  • Students who wish to apply for full‐time entry to Berklee College of Music must complete the Berklee College of Music full time application, which includes a $150 application fee (students who demonstrate financial hardship may apply for a fee waiver through Rick Rosa, (rvrosa@berklee.edu).
The City Music Summer Scholarship application is not an application for fulltime admittance at Berklee College of Music. City Music does not impact acceptance decisions for Berklee College of Music fulltime entry.
  • Students who wish to apply for full‐time entry to Berklee College of Music must adhere to all Admissions deadlines: Early Action‐November 1, 2011; Regular Action‐January 15, 2012.
  • Please be advised that students should not complete any 5‐Week online applications until their names have been submitted to the City Music Office by a network site representative. (Full‐time candidates should complete their Admissions Application as soon as possible to meet stated deadlines.)
  • Site directors may nominate 5 qualified students to audition for the City Music Summer Scholarship (* this may be in addition to students who will audition for full‐time entry as there is no limit to the number of students who may apply and audition for full‐time consideration).

Unfortunately, due to Berklee College of Music’s admissions and audition policies, we will not be able to accommodate students who are nominated after the deadline of November 1, 2011.

Detailed instructions for all application processes will be provided in a future email, once we’ve received your nomination list. At this time, the most crucial element is that we obtain the names and information of all nominated students, both fulltime/ CMSS and CMSS‐only candidates.

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions,
