Treasurer Cahill addressed Heroes Among Us honorees who have made an overwhelming impact on the lives of others at Boston Celtics Heroes Among Us Award Ceremony.
J. Curtis Warner Jr. has dedicated his career to changing the lives of Boston's inner-city youth through musical instruction. Curtis founded the Boston Arts Academy, the city's first performing and visual arts high school, to help get children off the streets and into the classroom.
Curtis also created the Berklee City Music Program, which provides some of the city's most at-risk youth with year-round music programs and an opportunity to earn full scholarships to Berklee College of Music. To date, more than 1,000 students locally have received summer program scholarships; and 116 have gone to college for free!
Under Warner’s direction, Berklee City Music has granted a music education to more than 3,500 under-served students in Boston and at City Music Network sites across the country.
